A Danish television channel has blundered by showing a screenshot from Assassin’s Creed in a news report about Syria.
TV2 was showing a report about the conflict in the Middle Eastern country when the backdrop was supposed to show capital city Damascus (shown below)
However viewers noticed that news anchor Cecilie Beckwas actually sitting in front of a backdrop from the adventure game and soon the blunder was being reported on social networking sites.
It seems that a researcher thought he had found actual images from Damascus when he had, in fact, found an image from the first game in the Assassin’s Creed series which was set in historic Damascus and other parts of the Middle East.
Jacob Nybroe, head of news at TV2, apologized for the blunder and said measures had now been put in place to ensure that images were verified before being broadcast.
